The Z gates are part of Frankfurt Airport and are accessible through passport control. You’ll see all your US flights leave from here. As a result, there is a business class and Senator lounge there which gets busy during the bank hours.
The signs make it clear how to get to the Senator lounge.
Here are the access rules to get into the Senator Lounge:
- Lufthansa First Class Passengers
- Star Alliance Gold customers traveling on Star Alliance flights + 1 guest on the same flight in any cabin
The entrance takes on Lufthansa’s standard lounge exteriors
The lounge opens up to essentially one big room that goes really deep.

Seating
Given the size of this lounge, there was a number of different seating options depending on your purpose.
They also had hangars where you could keep jackets and coats while you were in the lounge, thought I’m not sure I would make use of them honestly.
At the deep end of the lounge, they had loungers facing the window which had a nice view.
There were also phone booths where you could take calls, but they weren’t necessarily closed door like you might find in other lounges.
Food and Beverages
With a lounge of this size, I would expect that there was a fairly decent food spread, which there was. Please scroll and enjoy the good variety of food and drinks this lounge has!
Other
There was also a rest room that you could use as needed, but I didn’t go inside to take pictures as it was full of people sleeping.
Overall, the Lufthansa Senator lounge at the Z gates is great place to relax before your flight. It’s airy, it’s spacious, it has a great variety of food and drinks, and seating to relax in. This lounge is pretty sizable too but perfectly fitting for a large bank of morning flights to the US and evening flights to Asia and Africa. Remember, you can use this lounge even if you are not flying in business class. All that matters is your Star Alliance gold status.
