Introduction
The Deck Business Class Lounge is one of Cathay’s lounges that are located near gate 6. This lounge is accessible via escalators near the gate.
Once you get to the upper level you’ll see signs that make it clear that you’re walking in the right direction.
Access Requirements
Now before we properly enter this lounge, let’s revise the access requirements.
- OneWorld Carrier Business Class Passengers
- OneWorld Carrier First Class Passengers
- OneWorld Sapphire and Emerald Status members traveling on a OneWorld Carrier in any cabin (+1 guest)
Seating
This lounge follows a simple and similar architectural pattern to a lot of Cathay lounges, with the dark wooden finishes, the green plants, and the dark furniture themes throughout the lounge.
The lounge has a variety of seating options, depending on whether you are trying to:
- put your feet up and lounge
- be in a more social setting
- be in a position where you are trying to be productive and get work done, as well as having the opportunity to eat
The other thing that I really liked about this lounge is that, because it was on the upper level from the main part of the terminal, it was really exposed to the natural lighting. Whatever amount of sunlight the day had to offer, this lounge would capture a good portion of it.
Though I have to say, in the outdoor section, I found these seats to be incredibly uncomfortable. While I did sit in them for a little bit to soak up some sunlight, I wasn’t necessarily enjoying my time in them.
Food and Beverage
The food and beverage selection was decent. It wasn’t anything extensive, but given that Cathay has four different lounges here and this was tucked away in one corner of the terminal, I guess it had everything you really needed. This ranged from cold cuts and vegetables to hot food items and a noodle bar very similar to what they have in some of their other lounges.
You also had the famous Dan Dan noodle bar that is a staple of other Cathay lounges. I would’ve easily indulged in this but given that I just had this at the Cathay Wing lounge, I wouldn’t indulge in it here.
They did have a small section of hard alcohol along with someĀ Ā hors d’oeuvres.
Showers
This lounge, like many other Cathay Lounges do have showers and I decided to take advantage of this.
Overall, the Cathay Deck Lounge is a nice space away from the chaos of the terminal. Given that its at the start of the concourse and its not the closest Cathay lounge to the majority of gates, this lounge generally shouldn’t be as crowded as the other lounges. Though I will say, if you are on this side of the terminal, the Qantas Lounge next door is much nicer.
