Review: United Club Lounge Chicago Concourse B Gate B18

Video walkthrough of the lounge:

United has 4 different club lounges at Chicago O’Hare International Airport. Two of them are in concourse B, one in Concourse C, where a lot of their widebody planes depart from, and another in Concourse F, which is where United’s regional aircraft depart from.  This one is the one in Concourse B at the far end of the concourse near gate B18.

As a refresher, here are the access rules to United Clubs

  • Star Alliance international Premium Cabin passengers
  • Star Alliance Gold Status flying internationally on Star Alliance in economy
  • Non-United MileagePlus Star Alliance Gold status members flying domestically on United
  • United Club Members and those with one-time pass traveling
  • Those traveling on Business Class on United’s transcontinental routes: LAX to/from EWR, SFO to/from EWR, SFO to/from BOS

Once you get checked in by staff at the desk, you go down a set of escalators to the area where the lounge was. Now I flew in red-eye from San Francisco, so I was at the door to the lounge right at the time it opened and was empty for the most part as a result.

Immediately to the right, there were a couple of business rooms. They were empty at the time, but as the morning went on, they became filled quickly.

By these rooms was also a newspaper stand. Based on the day I visited the club, I can tell you this is very very recent news so good to see they keep the newspapers up to date.

Next, to that you have a seating area, which I’d honestly say is for display purpose and nobody really sat here. The only way I see it being of any use is if there was a long line for the service counters next to it.

Here’s another look at this area from the side.

Now we come to the main area of the lounge. This club, I’d say, is not that big compared to other United clubs I’ve been to. This is where most of the seating was.

There were also table style seats closer to where the food was.

And right behind was the food and drinks in the lounge. Now, lately I’ve been seeing UA introducer more hot items into their club lounge which I absolutely am happy with.

Let’s have a look at the food they had. Firstly, there were bananas and apples at the start along with plates and utensils.

The hot breakfast item of the day was scrambled eggs with chorizo and veggies. It was actually pretty decent.

There were also tortillas to go with that, though I did not have any.

Then there was a section with plenty of other fruits and greek yogurt with granola. I had a little bit of each and everything was nice and fresh.

Then there was the bread section, where there were cakes and muffins here. I didn’t have any of the cakes, but the muffin was tasty.

There was also hot oatmeal and some toppings to go with that if you wished.

There were coffee machines as well though one of them wasn’t working. I don’t do coffee but I use these machines all the time at lounges that have them solely for hot water.

It’s 6AM, but if you are really up for it, there’s a soft drink machine too along with a bread and butter toast machine.

On another table, there was another coffee stand with other add-ons, as well as mint and lemons which I used for my hot water.

Next to that, there was some high top seating along the wall which had plenty of power and USB ports.

And I mean plently…..

Here is where I was stationed while I was at the lounge.

There was also one power port, and 2 USB ports per seat here which I think is pretty neat.

Now walking towards the back of the lounge, you’ll walk by the bathrooms as well as a large departure board.

At the back of the lounge, there was a staffed bar.

There were some more seats with tables in this area particularly.

And in the final area of the lounge, another section of seats identical to the ones I was sitting in.

This was the final seating area at the far end of the lounge.

All in all, I’d say this is your standard club lounge, but definitely a nicer one. It’s one of UA’s more modernized club lounges which adds a plus, the wifi was pretty fast, there was hot food and I enjoyed pretty much everything that I ate, the staff was quick and efficient about refilling the food and cleaning up any used plates & glasses. So I actually liked this club and am happy to see a positive improvement in the club lounge experience, especially seeing more hot food items now.
