After passing through terminal 4’s fast track security, it was about a 5 minute walk to the lounge. Be careful and be sure to follow signage, the lounge is easily missed otherwise. You’ll find the entrance look like this and it’s right across from gate 10.
After having your boarding pass scanned, you’ll enter the main lounge area. At the lounge entrance, there’s a set of stairs leading upstairs, but we’ll look at that later.
First thing’s first, I thought the design was gorgeous.
There were loads of seating areas and the lounge was not especially crowded given that I was here around 7am. I would imagine this changes as the day goes on.
There was some seating along the wall.
Then to the left there were more seats along the wall.
In the center there was some high top seating with flowers in the middle.
If you want to use computers or play some Xbox apparently, that was there too.
Walking around the lounge I already found a lot of the seats lacking power port access, even along the walls.
The buffet area was very clear and there was no way you could miss it.
Along both sides of the buffet, there was additional seating.
Now don’t worry, this isn’t all of the food, I would’ve been worried if it were.
There were also drinks in the same area as the buffet behind it. There were juices, hot drinks, and other chilled soft drinks and water.
Towards the back area, There was another nice circular area. There were alcoholic drinks like a bunch of wines here. I really liked the seating arrangements. The couches in the corner could be a working area to those wanting to enjoy a drink while working or the high top seats as a lounging and relaxing style seating for those enjoying a drink.
Here’s a closer look. The steel cylindrical cups on the counter are chillers where wines are placed probably later in the morning when the time is more appropriate for drinking.
There were also beers in the chillers underneath.
Next to that and behind the buffet, there were some more seats. Right now it seemed nice and empty, but I would imagine that in a more peak time period, this area would get more crowded.
Thankfully, these seats did have power ports available for behind the seats.
Right next to that, there was some tabletop seating, and you can even see the bar area behind.
Coming back around on the other side of the buffet there were a lot of seats by the window and some more on the other side of the buffet divider. I must say there were definitely a lot of seats, though I can still see crowding being an issue.
In this area, there were also elevators going to the upper floor, more on that in a bit…
You could also set up a spa treatment if you wanted to.
There was another coffee machine on the backside next to the spa treatment entrance.
Here’s just a look at most of the ground floor of the lounge just so you get a sense of the size of it.
Even with the size of the ground floor, I still thought crowding would be an issue….that is, until I saw the upstairs floor. This is a looooooooonnnnnng set of stairs that leads to the upper floor of the lounge and can be found right at the entrance to the lounge. Once you enter the lounge itself, just look right and you’ll see the stairs. If you have any disability, worry not, there are elevators as I had shown at the back right of the ground floor of the lounge.
Once done climbing the stairs, there was some walking through some halls.
Now here we are at the upper floor. It was a lot bigger than I thought. But this area was a little more crowded than the downstairs floor.
There was a newspaper rack.
And now there’s a lot more seats here and that’s another buffet that you see with hot food options.
The seats along the window had power ports which was neat.
As we go to the left there are a lot of seats lined up in the center apart from the central seating.
This time along the window there were family style setups I’d say with 4 couches and one central table for them.
They had power ports which I appreciated. I wish these power ports were international standard but I always carry a converter on me so it wasn’t a big deal. Something to keep in mind in case you do not.
There was this circular couch with power ports and tables available to the left end of the upper floor. But honestly, with the individual tables, I can’t see the usage of the central table. Certainly, it would be a long reach at best to keep anything there.
Next to that you have another bar setup. Boy this is probably the 4th or 5th coffee machine I’m seeing.
There was this “VIP room” as it was called here as well. I’m not sure whether it’s actually for VIPs or whether it’s reserved for first class passengers during the peak hours.
Coming back to the otherwise you have some more seats lined up along the wall and more central seating.
And here’s the buffet of the upper floor. Let’s check out the food here!
Beside the buffet, like on the ground floor, there was more seating again.
Lastly, you had the same circular seats are earlier except these ones didn’t have the central table.
There was also a tv room back here though I did not take a photo from the inside because there was someone sleeping there.
Here’s one last look back into the lounge area just to give you a size sense.
At this point, I spent the rest of my time miserably waiting as my flight was 2 hours delayed due to strong wings in Amsterdam. However, the rest of the flights to AMS for the day were canceled, so I was happy to see my flight leaving considering all other flights to Amsterdam had been canceled.
Overall, I was really impressed with the lounge and the overall features. There were so many seats, so many beverages, lots of food options, lots of space, fast wifi, power ports in a good amount of places, hot food. I certainly couldn’t ask for anything better for before a 50-minute flight. Well done SkyTeam, well done!
