Welcome back to….the other Istanbul Airport. This one’s on the Asian side of Istanbul and is called Sabiha Gokcen International Airport. You’ll find all the low cost carriers flying in and out of this airport, and that includes the airline we’ll be flying today: Pegasus Airlines.

Our flight to Kayseri arrived not too long before our scheduled boarding time.

Boarding *should be* zone based, but was complete chaos. Once the announcement was made that the flight was boarding, everyone instantly lined up and it was a chaotic merging of 5-6 different lines for boarding.

The cabin is one giant economy cabin in a standard 3-3 layout.

I was seated at 24F on the right side of the plane. The seat was a standard low-cost carrier seat. The back padding was thin and hard but it was curved decently to fit to the cotour of your back. The seat padding was pretty average. Again, both of these are nothing out of the ordinary for a low-cost carrier.

The views were pretty decent on this flight.

I did not know that Pegasus was catered by DO & CO but I was pleasantly surprised given the world class reputation these guys have when it comes to inflight catering.

Eventually we pushed back and began our taxi towards the runway.

I always enjoy these other airports that I wouldn’t normally go to because you never know what traffic you might find or the views around from an airport otherwise not on your visit list.

During takeoff as we made that eastward turn towards Kayseri I got great views of SAW Airport.

On our climb out we flew over the town of Karamursel

Here’s a look at the inflight menu that Pegasus Airlines has.

As you can see this is a paid menu, however when you book there are different fare buckets for each flight. Some of these fares come with food, some don’t. For domestic flights, there are the different options you have.

I would’ve gotten saver but by the time I booked this, only comfort flex was available,
The meal I got was a sandwich.

It was whole wheat bread with chicken and bell peppers inside. It was pretty good with good flavor on the chicken and the bell peppers. It was simple but flavorful, which honestly, was no surprise given who the caterer was.

A little further into the flight we were flying over Ankara, the capital of Turkey.

There was also a hand wipe to clean up after you were done eating.

Eventually we began our descent into Kayseri in the middle of the Turkish countryside.

Right next to Kayseri is an inactive volcano called Mount Erciyes which you can partially see snowcapped behind the clouds in the photo below.

Kayseri Airport very much gives off smaller city airport vibes with a terminal that’s quite small, and all stair boarding

Pegasus keeps it simple and gets the job done. The fare bundles are clearly defined and segregated based on your needs. If you think you’d want to eat while on board, and want the flexibility of other things like seat selection, you have the luxury of choosing a bundle that suits that. If you want to just get on board, and fly from A to B at the lowest cost possible, Pegasus will afford you that as well.
